One of Them is Me
plus15 Photo Project
There are approximately 400,000 people living with Down syndrome in the United States—that's as many people as live in Miami. Add parents, siblings and relatives of those with Down syndrome, and we become a population as large as Chicago or Houston.
And yet, federal funding for Down syndrome research is only $55 per person—that’s as much as 95% less than funding for similar disabilities.
As part of our efforts to raise awareness about the need for funding for Down syndrome cognition research, plus15 has an ongoing photo campaign where supporters upload a photo of themselves or their loved ones, often holding a sign saying “One of Them is Me”—the message at the core of plus15. We encourage you to continue uploading photos of you or your loved ones with that message.
It is easy:
• Take a photo of your loved one holding a sign that says “One of Them is Me.”
• Upload the photo to our Facebook page, Flickr page or send it to firstname.lastname@example.org, and we’ll include it in our slideshow.
