How You Can Help

Thank you for your interest in supporting the Down Syndrome Research and Treatment Foundation. DSRTF is working hard to find treatments to improve cognition in those with Down syndrome.  The are a variety of ways that you can help make a difference in our ability to fund the kind of research projects that will accelerate the identification of treatments, some involve financial support others involve an investment of your time.

Ways to Financially Support DSRTF:

You may make a cash gift by donating online, by phone, fax or mail.  DSRTF also accepts donation of stocks and mutual funds.  Each of these methods allows you to honor or remember a friend or love one with your gift.  And don't forget to take advantage of corporate matching opportunities.

Tribute Donation

A DSRTF Tribute Donation offers you a thoughtful way to celebrate a special person or occasion while contributing to our vital mission of cognitive Down syndrome research. It is an ideal way to celebrate the birth of a child, birthday, graduation, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, wedding, holiday or even to just send a warm greeting. It is also a thoughtful way to You can also use this program to raise money by asking others to give to DSRTF in lieu of gifts for birthdays, graduations, weddings, anniversaries, etc. 

Once we process your information you will receive an acknowledgement letter, and your honoree will also receive a letter notifying them that you have made a gift in their name (we do not disclose the amount of the gift). Memorial Donation

A Memorial Donation provides the opportunity to make a donation in memory of a loved one or friend. Once we process your information you will receive an acknowledgement letter, and your honoree will also receive a letter notifying them that you have made a gift in their name (we do not disclose the amount of the gift). Gifts of Stock or Mutual Funds

Current federal law allows you to take an income tax deduction for the full fair market value of securities that you have owned for more that one year.  Capital gains tax is avoided on these assets.  For more information on how to make a stock donation, please contact DSRTF by e-mail (dsrtf@dsrtf.org) or phone 650.468.1668.

Include DSRTF in Your Will

Bequests enable individuals to make significant contributions that might not be possible during their lifetimes.  Your bequest is deductible for estate tax purposes.  The legal designation for DSRTF is, "Down Syndrome Research and Treatment Foundation, a charitable non-profit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of California, 755 Pagemill Road, Suite A200, Palo Alto, CA 94304-1005.

Adopt-a-Mouse

One of the most affordable ways to support DSRTF is to Adopt-a-Mouse! For a donation of $21 you can own your own cute, furry stuffed mouse that will be shipped directly to you. These mice make terrific gifts. All proceeds benefit DSRTF. To order or learn more about how DSRTF's Adopt-a-Mouse program generates awareness about the promise of cognition research, click here. If you or your child would like to start and Adopt-a-Mouse service project in your area or represent Adopt-a-Mouse at your local Buddy Walk or similar event, please contact DSRTF at dsrtf@dsrtf.org.

Develop your own DSRTF Personal Page

A Personal Page is a great way to help others become aware of the promise that research holds for improving the lives of those with DS. You can share information about your child, sibling or friend with DS by developing a personal web page through the DSRTF website. Click here to learn more.

Organize a Local Fundraising Group or Local Affiliate Group

The long-term success of DSRTF depends upon support in local communities. As a young organization, one of our goals is to build strong and effective affiliate groups in local communities to help us fund research. If you are interested in organizing a group in your community or would like to hold a fundraising event, please contact us. We will help you get started! Please contact us at dsrtf@dsrtf.org.

Arrange for your Local Down Syndrome Support Group to Donate

Many communities already have Down syndrome support groups. We would like you to make DSRTF a part of your annual giving program. Let us know if you would like us to present a program on DSRTF's research efforts to your local support group.

Become a Corporate Partner

DSRTF encourages corporations to become partners in our efforts to fund Down syndrome cognition research.  If your company, or one you know, would like to make a corporate contribution or develop a cause marketing program to help identify treatments that will improve cognition, please contact DSRTF at dsrtf@dsrtf.org or by phone at 650.468.1668.

Help Identify Potential Donors in Your Area
